In addition to the technical knowledge required, the training programs base their structure on the Welding Inspector&#8217;s excellent professional\u00a0 behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-toc-block\" id=\"rank-math-toc\"><p><strong>Contents<\/strong>:<\/p><nav><ul><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#inspectors-role\">Inspector\u2019s Role<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#1-international-welding-inspector-level-comprehensive-iiw-ewf\">1. As part of the quality system, inspection activities are defined in an inspection and test plan, which clearly describes what is required. Practicum in Testing<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">53<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Total Welding Inspection Training Hours<\/strong><\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>128<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\" colspan=\"4\">*Welding Technology Training may not be carried out for IWE, IWT Diploma Holders.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>International Welding Inspector<\/strong> Comprehensive Level, which is the upper level of Welding Inspectors, is able to (in addition to the activities of the Standard and Basic Levels):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Manage the whole of the Welding Inspection activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervise the activities of the IWI-S and IWI-B;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and provide instructions to IWI-S and IWI-B;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Act as a technical expert for the Inspection function;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop, comment and review Quality Control Plans and Inspection Testing Plans for applications not covered by product standards, codes, specifications, drawings and regulatory requirements; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage inspection activities for non-conventional applications with reference to materials, processes, and advanced destructive testing and NDT techniques.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-international-welding-inspector-level-standard-iiw-ewf\" style=\"font-size:32px\"><strong>2. Practicum in Testing<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">37<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Total Welding Inspection Training Hours<\/strong><\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>96<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\" colspan=\"4\">*Welding Technology Training may not be carried out for IWE, IWT Diploma Holders.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This knowledge base will enable the candidate to perform the following tasks (in addition to the Basic level \/ IWI-B activity):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supervise the activities of the IWI-B;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and provide instructions to IWI-B;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop, comment and review Quality Control Plans and Inspection and Testing Plans based on product standards, codes, specifications, drawings and regulatory requirements;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Witness procedure qualification tests including testing of the specimens<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the compliance of WQPRs and WPSs and welder qualifications and approvals against<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the applicable standards, codes and specifications for conventional applications <em>(e.g. arc welding processes, steels, aluminium alloys)<\/em>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the compliance of PWHT specifications against the applicable standards, codes and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>specifications;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the compliance of raw materials and consumables certificates against the applicable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>standards, codes and specifications;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take decisions on acceptance of quality documents related to welding fabrication (e.g NDT,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material testing, production testing, etc.);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take decisions based on quality documents (e.g NDT, material testing, production testing,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>etc.) according to the requirements defined for the construction;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify radiographic films quality adequacy (no interpretation);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and verify the relevant NDT techniques for a welded construction; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report on all the above actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-iwi-level-b-international-welding-inspector-level-basic-iiw-ewf\" style=\"font-size:32px\"><strong>3. Practicum in Testing<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">17<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Total Welding Inspection Training&nbsp; Hours<\/strong><\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>55<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\" colspan=\"4\">*Welding Technology Training may not be carried out for IWE, IWT Diploma Holders.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completion of the programme the candidate will be allowed to effectively perform the following tasks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conduct direct unaided visual inspection to identify and evaluate welding imperfection according to acceptance criteria;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify, witness and understand all welding related activities in fabrication, including (but not limited to) the following points:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the adequacy of information on NDT reports (VT, PT, MT, RT, UT) for conventional techniques;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify data and adequacy of material certificates (base and filler materials);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify identification and treacability of the materials during the fabrication process;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the compliance of raw materials and consumables against the applicable standards, codes and specifications;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the implementation of the WPS in production for conventional applications (e.g. arc welding processes, steels);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the implementation of PWHT specifications in production;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Witness welder approval tests including testing of the specimens or test coupons;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Witness production test coupons;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read and understand an Inspection Testing Plan;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read and understand the construction drawings in relation to inspection activities; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report any of the above actions to a qualified supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group hide-on-desktop hide-on-tablet hide-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4-welding-senior-inspectors-iso-iec-17024\" style=\"font-size:32px\">4.
