Description

The independent training unit of the Welding Greek Institute, the Training Excellence Center (TEC), has been internationally recognised as an approved training provider for the International Welding Engineer programme through Blended Learning.

The programme follows guideline IIW IAB-252 [current edition] and combines three delivery modes:

  • Asynchronous distance learning on the MOODLE learning platform, at your own pace;
  • Live lessons in a virtual classroom via ZOOM;
  • Practical training with physical attendance at the Institute’s premises in Elefsina.

Who it is for

  • Candidates based outside Greece.
  • Professionals with unpredictable working hours or frequent travel who cannot commit to a fixed weekend schedule.
  • Those who prefer to study at their own pace.
  • Those who want to become familiar with the English technical terminology of the standards.

All training material, teaching and examinations are in English.

  • Teaching, material and assessment in English.
  • Individual support and assessment at every stage, instead of group teaching.
  • Access to the MOODLE platform for the full duration of the programme.
  • A dedicated 15–20-day practical training session, separate from the hybrid class cycle.
  • Administrative support for candidates based abroad.

Practical training location

The in-person phase takes place at the premises of the Welding Greek Institute, 96 Trapezountos & Digeni Akrita, 19200 Elefsina, Greece, with fully equipped welding workshops.

Examinations

The examination process is the same as for the hybrid class: four written examinations, one per module, and one final oral examination. They are conducted by WGI in its capacity as ANB, independently of the training unit. Details on the page Examinations & Certification.

The assessment tests on the MOODLE platform are not certification examinations; they are used to check your progress and to move on to the next stage.
